The Oscar Niemeyer Foundation

Celebrated Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer has recently designed a museum to house drawings and models from his 70-year career, The Oscar Niemeyer Foundation, just outside Rio de Janeiro.

Having just turned 103, he seems a great deal more upbeat than a year ago, when he was quoted saying 'turning 102 is crap'. He claims the sweeping lines that have made his modernist architecture famous are inspired by the curves of Brazilian women...

A student of Le Corbusier, Niemeyer went on to design over 600 buildings, including the capital of Brazil, Brasilia, and the UN building in New York.
