1. About 3 weeks ago, few days after arriving Malaysia, and on my first day in office after 2 long months outstationed, I had to attend a
crash investigation on case of head on collision between Perodua Viva and express bus at Rompin, Pahang. The accident caused 3 fatalities on Perodua Viva occupants, and none casualties on bus occupants.
2. At first I was kind of shock on seeing the anomaly end result of Perodua Viva, due to all parts were broken are spreading into pieces, unattached engine and sheared roof. No way a head-on collision could cause damage like that even I have prepared my mind for the worst. But still, the severity is beyond my imagination.

As I went along with the investigation, interviewing the police officer; actually after the head on collision, the Perodua Viva had been dragged for almost 70 meters and went together with the bus into a ravine at the side road. Now that is making sense to me. Even the safest car in the world can't withstand such impact and terminologies of crash.
4. 5 star cars without 5 star drivers and not on the 5 star roads will be useless. You got what I mean?
5. At the police station, I saw a gloomy little face of sad woman, and without even talking to her, I could sense that she was the spouse of the deceased. I had a little chit chat with the brother of the deceased, who accompanied the poor woman to make a police report. I know the feeling very well but for some reason, I just couldn’t react. I just do the regular job I did and for me, I’m the worst man in the world because not comforting her, or at least talking to her. Well, I am this kind of person, so shy talking to strangers :p.
6. That night, on the muhasabah moment (personal reflection of things we do during the day) before sleeping, I’m thinking that she just lost a husband and 2 children, and together with her at that time, her two other children. Lesson of the day, for me to be better person, I know talk will do nothing to her, plus I'm not that kind of cordial person and it might be will make her tears drop again and to be truth, I can’t stand any tears (which means my tears will drop too huhu), especially on this kind of event. But i think, a small contribution of donation will make her happier or at least her children.
7. I wonder how they will go on with life, with the main income getter for the family was gone, but I know Allah will help. Things happen with a reason. I will pray for the victims will be strong and can go on with the life.
8. This is the main reason I and you guys have to tackle the road safety issues with the hope nobody will be sad and things like this would be never happen in the future. You should play the role too, be careful on the road and please help in any way to improve the
road safety so that later our next generation will be benefits from our work today. But to my dismay, the other hand happens to our office....
9. "You making me work on weekend, sacrificing my happy moment bla bla bla". This is a saying from somebody (Mr X) to one of my colleague here. And what my colleague did actually? He just asked him a help during the weekend and of course my colleague is working too at that time, sacrificing his weekend but the difference is he do not mind with the extra work. Be grateful that you are not in our CRU team, who work even in our precious Raya celebration holidays and we never lamenting about it. Working on weekend is just a normal for us. So please, cut the crap and do the work. How we can improve our road safety if you can't even sacrifice this small thing??

2. The impact of the crash threw four of the victims out of the car and the baby's body was sadly found in a drain. The Perodua Kenari was dragged for about 80m before coming to a stop at the edge of a hill. Based on words from the witnesses, the trailer rammed into the middle road divider and a lamp post which broke into two before colliding with the car from the opposite lane.
3. Fatigue is the most probable cause of the accident. Based on words from trailer driver assistant, the trailer driver had driven for 48 hours in a row without sleep and rest. As for any braking marks, the investigation team found them on the trailer travelling lane but cannot confirm as yet because they are probably due to brake marks from other vehicles which suddenly stopped after saw the accident. Plus, the widths of the skid marks were not matched with the width tire of the trailer. Below are some more post-crash photos of the unlucky Perodua Kenari.

5. Well, it is not the lorry driver was 100% to be blamed. Instead, we should blame the trailer company because they were not implementing a good safety, health and environment (SHE) procedures for their employees. Look what has happened? It is not impossible that same accident will happen again in the future if the fleet company still do nothing and can easily escape during this kind of incident.

3. The deaths came as a stark reminder of the country’s newest traffic law, the rear seat belt ruling that came into force two days ago. None of the rear passengers in either car were buckled up, police said. Gua Musang Fire and Rescue Department chief Rosli Che Sulaiman confirmed that only the drivers of the Kancil and Kenari had their seat belts on. 6 were in the Perodua Kancil which means there were 4 passengers at the back. Kancil only has 2 rear seatbelts, this is indeed passengers overloading issue, not rear seatbelt. For Perodua Kenari, 5 passengers in the car, 3 at the back. They should use the rear seatbelts; this at least will prevent them from flying out or spinning inside the 'cockpit' of the car (like clothes inside washing machine).
5. Haliza’s fourth child, one-year-old Noraihah Nabila was seriously injured and has been admitted to Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital. The five victims in the Kenari were driver Lau Sin Eik, 59, Lee Bee Seng, 50, Lau Chai Soon, 78, Ho Kin Hum, 86, and 18-year-old Shareen Lau Ming Min.
6. Phua Thein Noo, 28, drove the Murano while his passengers were Tan Chee Hua, 44, Wong Kee Hooi, 20, and 33-year-old Lau Soon Lee. Gua Musang OCPD Supt Ahmad Termizi Abd Haq said police had detained Phua for questioning.
7. Supt Ahmad Termizi said some of the victims were trapped in their vehicles while some were thrown out. He said Fire and Rescue Department personnel took at least 40 minutes to extricate the bodies. All the bodies were taken to Gua Musang Hospital for a post-mortem.
1. For this post, I'll do Car Reviews on The Kembara’s successor - the Perodua Nautica 4WD which was launched few months ago. Thanks to Paul Tan for the resource and Oncar.com for superb services. Perodua seems to be approaching it differently, bringing it as a premium product imported from Japan (a first for a Perodua) with only one variant priced at RM89,900 OTR with insurance. While the Kembara took 60%, Perodua only intends to take 5% of the current SUV market, with sales of about 150 to 200 units monthly. But after months in the market, I heard that less than 200 sold. Hmm..

The shifter for the 4-speed automatic is located in a more conventional position between the two front seats, unlike another more premium-looking design which is available which positions it at an angle more towards the dashboard, allowing it to be much more closer to the steering wheel so that hand movements between the steering wheel and shifter is minimal.
1. Early this 2008 year, we have been shocked in the news with a case where a Myvi hit the rear end of lorry. This is how the red Myvi looks alike after the crash. The car was indeed has a Diminished Value or in other words we can say it is a total loss.
