Design Classic No. 111: The PH Artichoke pendant lightfitting

The Artichoke Pendant was designed by Poul Henningsen in 1958 and is manufactured by Louis Poulsen. The design resembles an artichoke with 72 'leaves' centred around, but obscuring, the light source. The light is directed and reflected upon leaves until it illuminates the entire artichoke. The leaves can be manufactured in copper, white painted or brushed stainless steel and the fitting comes in three different sizes. Beautiful but pricey (£5800)!
